Strategic Foresight is a planning-oriented discipline related to futures studies and focused on informing and shaping strategic decision-making, guiding policy, or exploring new markets, products, and services. Strategic Foresight combines methods from futures studies with those used in strategic management. The goal of strategic foresight is never to predict the future, but to discover the perspectives of alternative futures and use those perspectives to inform the present - and not only look to the future from the perspective of the present.

The Application of Strategic Foresight Methodologies in Public Relations.
As a founder of HAIKU communications and a public relations expert, I’m pursuing a specialist postgraduate program at the Faculty of Political Science, Zagreb University.
My academic research study topic is ‘The Application of Strategic Foresight Methodologies in Public Relations’ because I believe that strategic foresight can significantly improve the effectiveness of public relations strategies and activities in six key areas:
Trend analysis
Scenario planning
Risk assessment
Opportunity identification
Stakeholder engagement
and long-term planning
A semi-structured interview method with PR experts
PR professionals can benefit from using strategic foresight to improve their strategies and achieve their objectives. Therefore, I am planning to conduct research by using a semi-structured interview method with public relations experts* from Croatian companies.
This research aims to determine the potential and knowledge of applying foresight methodologies in public relations.
The study will be conducted between December 2023 and February 2024 in an environment familiar to the experts. Before the research, I will introduce you to foresight methodologies and explain my goals. For this reason, I have opted to use a semi-structured interview approach in my research.
